Costume and property rentals
The following includes extracts from our rental policy:
Gateway is pleased to offer costume and property rentals to other Charitable and/or Not-for-Profit Organizations such as Community Associations, Churches, and Schools etc, and to other Saskatchewan Theatres.
We are not able to extend rental services to individuals for personal use.
Resources:
After many decades of collecting and creating for on-stage productions, our resources are indeed extensive and as part of our ongoing commitment to other community groups, and to our own financial independence, we offer access to those resources on a rental basis.
Rental items may be reserved up to 2 months in advance of the performance/use date, and may be taken – without additional rental costs – up to two weeks in advance of the event. We also expect them to be returned within two weeks of the date of final use.
As Gateway is entirely serviced by volunteers, a mutually convenient appointment to view etc is necessary. To arrange for an appointment please contact:

As many of our volunteers work full time, please remember to include your evening and weekend contact information as well as daytime.
Fees:
Rental fees are based upon our overhead expenses plus storage and maintenance costs and rental fees currently range between $5 and $50 per item.
To allow for rehearsals and the average length of most performance runs our fees are charges on a per item basis for up to one week (7 days) of use. Additional weeks, or parts of weeks are charged at the rate of an additional 10% of the rental fee for any 7 days more – or any part thereof.
Terms and conditions:
We do not bill for rental services. Rental fees are therefore payable in advance by cheque or cash, and must be paid no later than the date of removal from our location. Credit card information is also required – for security against safe return. The full replacement value for any items that are damaged, or not returned, will be charged to the credit card within fourteen days of the expected return date.
Items may not be altered or changed without first obtaining permission from the head of the rental dept concerned. Permission will include whether or not the alteration or change needs to be reversed before return.
Costumes may be altered to better fit the actor provided no fabric is cut, no glues are used, and any items/trims removed are returned together with the original item. The same terms apply to soft furnishings such as curtains, cushions etc.
Items on approval can only be taken from our premises with the provision of credit card information and they are, if not subsequently rented, subject to a charge of 10% of the usual rental fee for re-shelving/re-stocking.
Some of our in-stock items are difficult to maintain and/or expensive to service, and some are fragile, or irreplaceable and we reserve the right to withhold these or any other items from use through our rental services. We also reserve the right to refuse rental service to any person or group who has infringed, in any way, upon our rental services and/or policies.
Custom work:
From time to time we are able to offer custom or customized work within our rental services. We can for example, create or adjust costuming to fit a specific rental need. Additional fees for this work are established and, upon payment, work can proceed.
